i'm excited for IPAD 2. glad i waited.

I'd be interested to know how many people bought/ will buy an IPAD for their child's use.

I plan to get it so that my son can learn his ABC's on something more dynamic than flashcards... and it'll play YO GABBA GABBA for him wherever we go!

pick 5

there's an app on facebook that has you choose top 5 lists - and share them with your friends. there are various categories; i chose to fill out the three that i was most passionate about from the batch they offered. here goes...
albums (the art of the full album has been lost. it is unfortunate.)
beer (i had never liked beer until my pops moved to belgium. beer is wonderful there.)
tv shows (i spent and spend much time in front of the tube. law & order marathon - sold!)

in the booth

My good friend Dustin, a super photographer, set up his new concept STUDIO BOOTH at the latest My Favorite Things party. The deal is: he sets up a cool space - and gives you a prop to get creative with - in this case, a very large PUMA Clyde sneaker. The photos are great quality. Here are a couple of shots I concocted. More shots from other party attendees: here

You like?? Reach out and book Studio Booth for your next party!

HILARIOUS!!!!! a translated rap freestyle

I remember back when I was in college (wow - over 10 years ago) -- and email went around where university students were asked to take lyrics to a Biggie Smalls song and 'translate' them for those who didn't understand slang. the result: a wonderful soliloquy of proper english breaking down Chris Wallace's incredibly genius rhyming.

Consider this part deux! An erudite freestyle battle - GREAT STUFF!!!!

thanks to Dj Herbert for sending this over. Oh - and if you have never been to his weekly party FREEDOM at Canal Room, i require your attendance there before Halloween. I mean it. It's truly one of the best parties ever.

a lil' S.A.T. verbal section action for ya

as you all know, i'm supporting Barack Obama for President. he speaks tonight to accept the nomination of the Democratic Party. and some of the invited bloggers had some extra tickets -- so they did this: ... IS TO...

great stuff.

I don't watch music video shows anymore...

i remember when i was young and MTV actually played music videos - i know - what a crazy concept for a channel whose name stands for MUSIC TELEVISION. Anyhow, now that the hiphop game is horrible, i don't bother watching rap city either. so i only really see videos when i occasionally blog-surf and find new treats. here are two i found today. enjoy.

tap & go > paypass

a few months ago my citibank mastercard sent me a new card - with a little surprise. it is called paypass -- a small keychain dongle that allows you to not carry your card, but still charge stuff. to help manufacture increased usage here in NYC; mastercard, citibank, the mta combined to enable this paypass to gain you entrance into the subway. a simple tap & go. no need for a metrocard. you can see how it works here : subway trial site. i love it because if the train is pulling in and i don't happen to have a metrocard, i can use it quickly and easily. and in addition to the subway, now paypass is enabled in a few other key retailers. it comes in handy when you leave the house without your wallet. for example, it has allowed me to grab a vitamin water at duane reade on the way home from the gym. ahhh - refreshing!

the bestest birfday card ever!

this is my favorite birthday card of all time. i'd first seen it on a mug someone gave my father -- many years ago. it's so simple, and so clever. my dad and i, to this day, still call each other with the 'hippo birdie two ewe' greeting on our respective birthdays. classic!
