don't be fooled by the rocks that she's got... no i'm, not writing about J-Lo in my blog - don't be silly. i'm writing to give a shout out to my good friend jenny. she is picking up and leaving her home town/ home state tomorrow. off to start the new chapter of her life. i'm so excited for her. she has been a loving daughter and granddaughter, and has been in service of others for many years, but the time has come to turn the page. she is headed to a small city in texas, and i hope it makes her happy. though, i trust that one day she'll make it to new york. if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere... right?! a salute to travelers. we are a crazy bunch.

it seems like these days there are thousands of t-shirts available for purchase. roope and i went on a mini-tour this weekend in search of some for him to wear to his mid-summer parties in finland. store after store in soho featured hundreds of styles of shirts -- for guys, girls, kids. some are extremely creative - very witty. check out david&goliath. others reminisce about days past with drawings of david hasselhoff or rainbow brite. and these suckas can be pricey. roope dropped nearly a hundred bucks for 3. i managed to escape the adventure only buying one - for $15.

for us new yorkers there have been rumors of a 2nd Ave subway line for -- well for decades, it seems. one thing you have gotta love about the creativity and spirit of this city -- not to mention the talent with photoshop -- is the sign above. if you cannot see the fine print it reads : "second ave subway update -- hello if you ever build me they say i'll be called the T train, but between you and me i have been on the drawing board since 1921 and at this point seriously doubt i'll ever be built". great stuff!!! ... i think all 4,5,6 riders are doomed to packed rush-hour trains for years to come.

my friend janice, who i met and worked with in san fran, has had an eventful few weeks.
- she got engaged to jim, who she was dating for 1 year, but had known for 5.
- she got laid off from old navy. :(
- jim's job shipped him off to london for 4 months, but gave him a stipend to pay for janice's visits. :)
- she & i got together in london last week -- i hadn't seen her in over 1 year. crazy that we ended up having a hot chocolate on regent street, a 12 hour flight from her home -- and 7 from mine.

the funny thing about going to london is how its an adventure just crossing the street. ya know 'cause they drive on the wrong side -- ie. the right side. for us yanks (as well as many other countries around the globe) its a bit unnatural to cross the street, let alone drive backwards. so, the brits give us a cue. on street corners in high trafficked areas - they tell us where to look. cheeky bastards! anyhow, my friend, patti, taught me why they chose to the right side. "so when you were on your horse and needed to defend yourself you could draw on your adversary". read more here: brits drive right
